Engineering Geologist - Mining Environmental Group
Vancouver, BC
We are seeking a qualified
Engineering Geologist to work in the
areas of dam engineering and mine tailings disposal, rock slope
characterization, open pit design, surficial and hard rock geological mapping,
foundation assessment and design.
This
role will give you the opportunity to:
- act in either a Project Manager or Specialist Engineer capacity
- be responsible for varied assignments requiring both knowledge of a broad field of geological assessments and of reciprocal effects of the work upon other fields
- solve problems by a combination of standard procedures, modifications to standard procedures, or methods developed in previous assignments
- participate or lead planning to achieve prescribed objectives
- conduct independent studies and analyses, and prepare interpretations, conclusions and reports
- interpret and evaluate data obtained from various geological, geophysical, GIS, engineering and/or research investigations and keep well informed of the latest technological developments.
- develop, approve and coordinate work schedules to ensure that objectives of cost, quality and time are met
- develop and recommend improvements in design standards and mapping procedures to lower costs and improve work quality
- coordinate projects with colleagues to determine relative priorities and best utilization of staff and resources to meet objections and completion dates

Working conditions specific to the job
The nature of this
work requires an employee who is able to work a flexible schedule that may
include overtime as required to meet project deadlines. Travel to other offices, client meetings and
project sites will be required from time to time. Travel or site work may be domestic or
international. Initiative, enthusiasm and commitment to technical excellence
are all important qualities for our team members.

have a Bachelors degree in a related Geological/Geotechnical field and have a
minimum of 8 years experience, we want to hear from you.
We
value your:
- small to medium scale project management experience
- previous experience and knowledge in the Mining, Geology or Geotechnical sectors
- ability to undertake mapping and engineering geological assessments
- a history of involvement on field programs, and a background of working on large-scale multi-disciplinary projects
- knowledge of related fields of engineering
- experience in geological and geotechnical investigation programs
- registration or eligibility for registration with APEGBC
- proficiency with engineering modelling programs (GeoStudio), site investigations and characterization, mathematical analytical tools for engineering calculations (MathCAD, Excel), GIS, AutoCAD and drafting experience is an asset
- strong report writing and excellent oral and written communication skills
- strong time management and organisation skills
- ability to effectively work with a team of professionals
